A Christian Moderate

A Christian moderate is not someone who is moderately Christian or who lacks conviction, but someone who stands at the center of Catholic Faith. The Christian moderate proclaims the faith of the Church and of Scripture and confesses to not being able to understand all the mysteries of God.

A Christian moderate is not on the lunatic fringe of current controversies, is Christ centered, not issue oriented. A Christian moderate is open to the Spirit and not ideologically driven, admits the possibility of being wrong about some things and gives others the benefit of the doubt, especially regarding their motives.

A Christian moderate knows that faith is more important than being right. A Christian moderate abhors we/they thinking and sees through false dichotomies and refuses to play by rules established by partisans. A Christian moderate knows that God's Kingdom will not stand or fall on the basis of our mistakes and sins.

A Christian moderate lives with a lively hope and does not dread the future and lives out of the peace of God. A Christian moderate is not a pollyanna and does not live in denial of sin and death, but would rather die at the hands of the people of God then to kill in the name of God. A Christian moderate is passionate about Christ but in control of his/her passions.
